Mr. Vincent de Paul Onguene Fouda is the field director for the project and is in charge of the field operations for the survey and overseeing all intervention activities.

DR PARFAIT ELOUNDOU ENYEGUE

Dr. Parfait Eloundou-Enyegue is a Professor and Chair, Development Sociology at Cornell University. He also chairs a training panel, under the aegis of the International Union for the Scientific Study of Population’s (IUSSP) to strengthening demographic training in Africa (FraNet). He sits on the board of directors for the Population Reference Bureau, the Population Association of America, and the International Union for the Scientific Study of Population. He has served as a senior-level consultant on population issues for range of institutions including the United States Agency for International Development, the World Bank, the Hewlett Foundation, the UK Department for International Development, the French Development Agency, the United Nations Population Fund, the United Nations Population Division. He has previous presented work on demography and African security at the Woodrow Wilson Center and at the 2015 Student Conference on US Affairs conference at West Point, where he chaired a panel on demography and inequality. His research interests focus on the implications of demographic change for socioeconomic development and inequality in sub-Saharan Africa.

SARAH GIROUX

Dr. Sarah Giroux is a lecturer and researcher in the Department of Development Sociology at Cornell University. Her research interests lie in the intersection of demography and inequality in the modern world, with a focus on sub-Saharan Africa. Working largely with existing secondary data, she uses a range of analytic approaches to understand these issues, including work at both the micro and macro levels, as well as taking descriptive, causal and accounting techniques. Increasingly, her work examines how formal demographic processes both shape and are shaped by, broader socioeconomic inequalities. As a postdoc (2007- 2014) she developed and managed Hewlett Foundation supported international outreach and research efforts to improve demographic training in West Africa and also managed the administration of a Spencer Foundation supported 4,000 household nationally representative survey in Cameron from 2009-2014. She teaches courses in research methods, population dynamics, and international development in the Department of Development Sociology.

AUBRYN SIDLE

Aubryn Sidle is a Ph.D. Student in the Department of Development Sociology Cornell University. 

She has a technical background in life skills and girls' education program design with a particular focus on secondary education in sub-Saharan Africa. As a researcher she is focused on understanding the impact of soft-skills and gender rights programming on marginalized and rural girls' educational and health outcomes. She is particularly interested in context, and how national, linguistic, political and cultural contexts change what types of skills are most important for improved learning and health. As a practitioner, she works to amplify the voices of small, local and locally focused NGOs in the global policy conversation on girls' education.  

From 2010-2016 Aubryn served as the Executive Director of AGE Africa, where she built an innovative and scalable program model for girls' retention and achievement in secondary school in Malawi. Under her leadership AGE Africa's programs and resources expanded at an average of 30% per annum, and the AGE Africa's signature after school program CHATS, achieved global recognition as a promising practice in girls' secondary education by the Clinton Global Initiative, the United Nation's Girls' Education Initiative and others.

ANTHONY POON

Anthony Poon is a Ph.D. Student in the Department of Information Science at Cornell University. 

Anthony has over a decade of experience in software and systems engineering in both professional and research applications. His past work involves understanding technological adoption and information systems usage in Kyrgyzstan and South Africa, designing large-scale e-commerce systems, and modeling the educational success of immigrants to America. Anthony's research focuses on information and communication technology usage in the developing world and using a socially-aware approach to designing new pervasive and intimate technology to address information needs in the domains of education, health, and transportation.

KERI ANNE JOHNSON

Keri is a Health/Wellness Specialist for Cornell Wellness providing individual fitness & life coaching consultations, lectures & workshops, and coordinating the Healthy Living Program. 

She has 15 years in the health and wellness industry. Keri holds an associates degree in Applied Sciences and Integrated Health Care, plus she is a NYS licensed massage therapist, personal trainer, and aroma therapist. Currently Keri is continuing her education, part-time, at Cornell University. One of her passions is group fitness and over the years she has acquired many certifications and taken several workshops - these include becoming a: registered yoga teacher, certified Stott Pilates Instructor, CrossFit level 1 instructor, and Tac Fit Commando trainer, along with becoming a certified intrinsic life coach. Her personal philosophies on training include "nothing is impossible, it just takes dedication" and "the body can only achieve what the mind believes, keep it positive!". Keri has presented workshops to staff and faculty at the National Insitute of Youth and Sports in Cameroon about the emerged on "cross-fit" and functional fitness training programs. She was also invited to speak to Cameroonian Senators on the Youth and Sports committee to discuss the role of fitness in the epidemiological transition.

DR. BLAISE NGUENDO-YONGSI

Dr. Blaise Nguendo-Yongsi, is Associate Professor of Health Geography and Spatial Epidemiology at the Institute of Training and Research in Population Studies (IFORD), Yaoundé, Cameroon, a center that serves over 20 African countries. He has provided technical support in socio-demographic data collection and analysis for various development partners (UNFPA, UNICEF, UNHCR, AFD, and UNESCO). He earned his BEd at Laurentian University (Sudbury–Canada) and his PhD in Geography at Paris-X (France). His work involves an integrative understanding of the broad determinants of population health and research on environment and health linkages within urban settings. He has served as a Research Professional at the Centre de Recherche Interuniversitaire de Gériatrie de Montréal and as Professor of Epidemiology and Health Geography at the University of Chicoutimi (Quebec–Canada). He is currently Associate Professor of Health Geography and Spatial Epidemiology at the Institute of Training and Research in Population Studies (IFORD), a training center affiliated with the University of Yaoundé II (Cameroon).

LEVY OYONO

Mr. Oyono Levy from the Cameroonian Ministry of Youth and will be designing and organizing the field-testing of youth mentoring and skill development programs. He currently works on these efforts at the Ministry of Youth, but will provide a formal assessment of the types of programs that currently exist and how they might be adjusted to more effectively reduce radicalization.  He will then, collaborating with senior project staff and other project consultants, develop, test and deploy a mentoring/skill based program that will be run as a randomized control trial intervention of a youth mentoring intervention. He coordinates programs at the Ministry of Youth, and thus his participation will also ensure that the initiative can be scaled up where results are positive.

SANDRINE MBELE

Ms. Sandrine Mbele, consultant, works for the Cameroonian Ministry of Youth and will be collaborating with Mr Oyono on be designing and organizing the field-testing of youth mentoring and skill development programs. She will be in charge of overseeing the day-to-day running of the youth center RCT programs as well as writing up a formal curriculum and reporting for each track (financial, social, and human capital tracks, as described in the narrative). Ms. Mbele, who holds a master’s degree in demography from IFORD, has collaborated with the PI on several prior projects and has extensive experience in conducting both field survey work and youth development programs.

Dr. Yves-Martin Ahanda Assiga is an elected member of the Cameroonian National Assembly and also a practicing surgeon. He chairs the Senate Committee on Youth and Sports and is interested in developing effective programming to engage the “dividend generation”.
